Work out where the sky actually was, rather than reading it off a table.
3 of 3 available
- Your true sun signComputed from the Sun's real longitude, to the minute. Cusp births get a real answer.
- Moon signThe fastest-moving body in the chart: it changes sign every two and a half days, so the date alone is not enough.
- Rising signThe most time-sensitive of the three — it changes every two hours, and it needs a birthplace as well as a birth time.
Why compute rather than look up
A sign begins the instant the Sun reaches a particular ecliptic longitude. That instant moves about six hours a year across the leap-year cycle and drifts across decades, so every boundary has landed on two different calendar days within living memory.
The Sun entered Aries at 15:28 UTC on 20 March 1989 and at 03:06 UTC on 20 March 2024. Someone born at noon on the first date is a Pisces; someone born at noon on the second is an Aries. Every site printing a fixed range gets one of them wrong, and these calculators exist so that this one does not.
