One elapsed-day number drives every result
Conversion does not search a date table. It subtracts the named epoch, then decomposes and reduces the resulting whole-day count.
| count | construction | returns after |
|---|---|---|
| Long Count | base 20, except 18 uinal per tun | linear within the displayed positions |
| Tzolk’in | 13 numbers × 20 names | 260 days |
| Haab’ | 18 × 20 days + 5 Wayeb’ | 365 days |
| Calendar Round | least common multiple of 260 and 365 | 18,980 days · 52 Haab’ |
A Gregorian leap day is not skipped. It is another elapsed day, so every Maya count advances normally. This is one of the mechanical differences from modern 13-Moon/Dreamspell products.
Fixture before interpretation
The test suite checks the Smithsonian’s 1 January 2000 and 20–21 December 2012 examples, the creation-era alignment, and a seventh-century monument date published by The Met. Only after those independent values agree does the UI print a result.
