how to use the comparison
start with a combination you already know you enjoy, then compare the heart and base as well as the opening. moonlight and thank u, next both list fruit, but their middle notes point in different directions: marshmallow and peony in one, coconut and rose in the other. r.e.m. includes lavender without abandoning the sweet notes. a shared fruit note is therefore a weak reason to expect two perfumes to smell alike.
