three visits across a decade is unusual. the show cycles guest judges constantly and very few people are asked back twice, let alone three times ten years apart.

why the overlap is so complete

her audience and the show's audience are substantially the same audience, and have been since before either was as large as it is now. the reasons are not mysterious: a vocalist working in a tradition drag has always drawn on, an aesthetic built on a single instantly copyable silhouette, and a public position on lgbtq+ rights she arrived at at fifteen because of her brother.

the money behind it

she has put substantial funding behind lgbtq+ causes, most visibly a $3 million fundraiser for trans youth in 2022 and an anonymously funded holiday gift drive for trans young people. lgbtq+ rights is one of the four stated pillars of the brighter days ahead foundation launched in 2026.

the hair joke

worth including because she made it herself. responding to complaints that she always wore the same style, she pointed out that she was wearing more fake hair than every drag queen on earth combined — which is both a good line and, given what four years of red dye did to her actual hair, an entirely accurate one.

the queens who have performed her

a large number of them, across most seasons and most franchises. the reason is technical as much as cultural: the songs have a recognisable silhouette to lip-sync to, the choreography is legible, and the look is copyable with one liner and one ponytail — which is not true of most pop stars.

that copyability is the underrated commercial fact about her whole visual identity. an outline that can be reproduced by somebody else in ten minutes is an outline that travels, and it has done more for her recognisability than any campaign.
